The opioid epidemic is a wide-reaching national tragedy, yet few Americans have access to life-saving care. Despite the dedicated efforts of many, SAMHSA data shows that over 890,000 people in North Carolina have untreated alcohol and opioid use disorder. There is also a significant shortage of providers who can offer that treatment, particularly for rural North Carolinians according to a CDC analysis.

At Better Life Partners, we aim to do our part to solve this problem. We’re now officially serving all of North Carolina with online and community-based treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorder. Our program combines same-day access to medication-assisted treatment, supportive counseling, and whole person care to help people move beyond addiction.

“We’re proud to be joining the efforts of countless individuals across the state dedicated to improving access to substance use disorder treatment. Our focus on compassionate and community-based care will help more North Carolinians find a healthy life filled with belonging, love, and purpose,” said Lucian Gonzalez, MD, Medical Director of Better Life Partners in North Carolina.

Improving access to medication-assisted treatment

We make it as fast and easy as possible to get members into medication-assisted treatment (MAT), so they can start feeling better the same day they call us. MAT helps people recover from opioid and alcohol use disorder with FDA-approved medications that ease withdrawal symptoms and create space to address some of the root causes that contribute to substance use in the first place. MAT has been proven to save lives, reduce overdoses, and sustain long term recovery.

Our medical team assesses each person’s needs and history to create a personalized treatment plan that’s right for them.

Addiction treatment for the whole person

As part of our treatment program, we work with members to meet all their health needs throughout their recovery, including physical and mental health care. From sexually transmitted infection (STI) care to pain and fevers, we aim to respond to any of our members’ health concerns. That’s why we call this service Responsive Care. We also help members manage co-occurring mental health conditions, including diagnoses, medication management, specialized group therapy, and more.

Flexible and compassionate care

At Better Life Partners, harm reduction is at the heart of our treatment philosophy. We prioritize flexibility to meet the unique needs of each member and our door is always open. That means members will find a sense of belonging, love, and purpose here—no matter what recovery looks like for them.

Building deep community partnerships

Better Life Partners works hand-in-hand with community organizations to offer treatment where members already are. From recovery centers and food banks to treatment providers and corrections departments, our deep roots within communities help us reduce barriers to access and help more people heal from addiction.
