Breaking down barriers to healthcare access with Brandi Fields

Better Life Partners is now officially serving North Carolina with online and community-based treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorder. In this blog series, we’ll introduce you to our North-Carolina-based team, all dedicated to improving the health and safety of the place we call home.

Meet Brandi! As the General Manager for North Carolina, she leads our clinical, medical, and operational team to deliver high-quality, accessible care to marginalized communities throughout the state.

What part of our mission do you connect with?

Throughout my career in value-based care organizations, I have been committed to breaking down barriers to healthcare access, ensuring that individuals receive timely, compassionate, and comprehensive care. Better Life Partners’ focus on same-day treatment, harm reduction, and community collaboration aligns perfectly with my passion for increasing care equity and improving health outcomes.

What does a typical day-in-the-life look like for your role?

In an operational leadership role at Better Life Partners, my day revolves around ensuring seamless care delivery, optimizing workflows, and fostering collaboration across teams to drive access and engagement. My goal is to remove barriers so our clinical team can save lives.

How do your experiences inform the work you do here?

With over a decade of experience in multi-specialty value-based care organizations, I bring a deep understanding of how to strategically scale operations while maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care. My background in both provider operations and health plan partnerships has equipped me with the skills to drive efficiency, enhance member engagement, and ensure financial sustainability. Additionally, my work in home health and disability evaluation has given me firsthand insight into the barriers patients face when seeking care, reinforcing my commitment to innovative solutions that meet people where they are.

What brings you joy or fuels you in your work?

I find joy in seeing tangible improvements in patient access and health outcomes, especially for historically underserved populations. Knowing that my work directly contributes to making care more equitable and effective fuels my passion. I also thrive on collaborating with mission-driven teams and community partners who are dedicated to making a difference. Building relationships, driving meaningful change, and seeing individuals regain their sense of belonging and purpose are what keep me motivated every day.

What makes Better Life Partners the right fit for your community?

More than 32,000 people in North Carolina overdosed between 2020-2022. By providing same-day access to treatment and prioritizing compassionate, stigma-free support, bridging critical gaps in care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders, Better Life Partners is exactly what our community needs.

A large portion of our community here in NC is very rural and transportation is a tremendous barrier to care. It also allows a level of anonymity for individuals seeking treatment in a part of the country that is still very stigmatized.

The model of care we provide couldn’t be a better fit for the community here in NC and I can’t wait to see the difference we will be able to make for my fellow North Carolinians.

Let’s work together to help our communities heal from addiction.
